christmas time

I would have to say this was one of my favorite Christmas's because I got to spend it with Nik!  Christmas eve I went over to Nik's house.  I opened my gifts from him.  He gave me a nice soft-shell jacket, a portable heater, a batman t-shirt, and a necklace of the Salt Lake temple.  I would have to say one of my favorites was the necklace of the temple.  I had no idea that he got it for me and I just thought it was so special.  However, I loved all my gifts from Nik!

Afterwards we went over to my house to open his gifts with my siblings.  I gave Nik some camo moccasins, car mats, a polo shirt, and a knit sweater.  I think the camo moccasins were one of his favorites because they were such a surprise to him.

After playing games with my family and everyone opened their gifts I took Nik back home.  While we were outside his house I gave him his last gift.  It was a deck of cards with 52 things I loved about him written on them.  He loved it so much it made him so happy.  I loved seeing how meaningful the gift was to him and how much he loved it.

Christmas morning we woke up to a white Christmas!  I opened up gifts and enjoyed spending time with my family while Nik spent time with his family.  Since it was the first time snowing in a few weeks we decided to go sledding and enjoy the beautiful snow.  Nik drove over to our house and we went down to Mountview park to do some sledding.  We had so much fun and felt like we were little kids all over again.

The park didn't have very much snow left on the hill so we decided to go over to Flat Iron park instead because it was a steeper hill and hopefully there was more snow on it.  We had a blast sledding down this hill too.  It was a little hard to go down the hill and not hit anyone haha.  On our last run down the hill I did a few rolls and twisted my ankle pretty bad.

After sledding we headed over to Nik's house.  We had a delicious dinner with his family.  I love his mom's cooking so much.  It is so delicious and I am always craving it.  I most definitely need to learn how to cook some yummy Tamil food.

Overall this was such a great Christmas.  I wish I could have gotten home from school earlier so that we had more time to spend together.  Can't wait until next year!

feeling 22

Since Nik's birthday was on a Sunday this year he picked me up and then we went over to his house to open presents before church.  I decided to surprise him and go to church with him.  Since it was the Sunday before Christmas he thought I would go with my family since we were all together but instead I decided to go with him to his ward!

I gave him a new set of scriptures with his name engraved on them, a nice winter coat, and a flannel shirt.  I loved seeing his reaction to all the gifts.

He had no idea that I was going to get him the scriptures.  A day or so before his birthday he asked if we could go look at scriptures and buy a set for his birthday.  I told him that they were pretty expensive and that I had already bought a couple things for him and didn't know if I had the money for them.  It was the best surprise ever!

The coat and the flannel shirt look great on him too and will help keep him warm during these cold winter months.  Man if I had endless amounts of money I would buy him everything he ever wanted.  I'll just have to wait for that day. ;)

After church we went to my house for dinner, played games with my family, and then headed over to Nik's house to have cake with his family.  Most of his family was working during the day so they just decided to get together that evening to celebrate.

The next day I took Nik to Zaxby's for lunch so that he could feel like he was back in North Carolina haha.  We had a great time and loved it there.  I thought it was pretty tasty and thought it was fun eating something that Nik ate while on his mission.

After lunch we picked up Abby, Jenna, and Emily to head to the tree of life in Draper.  It wasn't too chilly out but as soon as we stepped outside at the park it was freeing cold!  We ran over to take a couple pictures but it was so cold we could barely stand it.

We tried to take some jumping pictures but most of them were fails haha.  Plus we didn't care that much because the wind was so bitter cold we were freezing our butts off.  We had a great time laughing though.

Overall it was a great birthday weekend for Nik.  I played him Taylor Swift's 22 song and he loved it.  We even got to celebrate for two days since we couldn't do a bunch of fun stuff on Sunday haha.  Can't wait to celebrate his next birthday!

Laughing and being crazy as normal.

thanksgiving & black friday

Thanksgiving morning I headed over to Nik's house to surprise him and kidnap him to my house for Thanksgiving dinner.  We were both a little upset at each other for stupid little reasons but I really wanted Nik to come for Thanksgiving.  I had spent all day Wednesday helping little grandpa and my parents get ready.  I helped them bake two pumpkin pies and the turkey.

She loved his watch :)

Nik got ready while I put away all of his laundry and then we headed to my house for dinner.  Nik loved seeing his two favorite girls, Lucy and Brexlee and of course me haha.  We stuffed ourselves with a delicious dinner.  My favorite part was the yams and jello.  It was so yummy we both just kept going back for more and more.  My first time helping cook a turkey was successful!

After eating we watched a couple movies with all of the cousins.  We started watching Monsters University which we were really enjoying.  We went upstairs to say goodbye to grandma and when we came back down they had turned on The Lego Movie.  Let me just say it is one of the weirdest movies ever.  We decided to leave because it was so annoying.

Instead we decided to go black Friday shopping!  First we headed to Walmart to look at the movies and beats headphones.  We couldn't find the cheap movies, they were sold out of beats, and the line was super long so we decided to leave and go over to Target.  We didn't find anything we really liked so we just decided to go back home.

As I was driving Nik home we decided to stop at another Walmart with his siblings.  We found some good movies that Jenna wanted so we bought them for her.  :) Nik picked me up at 6:50 Friday morning to run to Sam's Club.  Nik bought his family a pre-lit Christmas tree.  We had a blast shopping around and being crazy.

We went to Nik's house after and I set up their Christmas tree while Nik fell asleep on the couch haha.  The tree came with pre-lit white lights so we added some colored lights into it.  It was so pretty, we just loved it!  The white lights even sparkle which was a definite plus haha.

Sunday afternoon I decided to surprise Nik at church.  I got there a few minutes late and realized that it was the 5th Sunday so it was a combined relief society/priesthood meeting.  I looked into the room and couldn't find Nik or any seat at the back.  I texted Nik to try to give him a hint but he didn't get it so I just waited outside listening to the speaker.

After the lesson people got up to take a break so I ran in and found Nik.  He was so surprised to see me I thought he was in shock haha.  The rest of church was amazing.  The speakers were great and I just loved being at church with Nik again.  I'm so thankful for the gospel.

After church we headed to my house where we ate dinner with my family, took pictures by our Christmas tree and then I was off for the last three weeks of the semester.  We can't wait to celebrate Thanksgiving next year together!

For halloween this year I decided to go home and celebrate it with Nik.  I got to his house and his mom had cooked me the most amazing meal.  Fried chicken, rice, and my favorite onion/cucumber/avocado salad.  Man, I was in heaven it was so delicious.  I wish I could eat it all the time it is so good.

We headed over to Fear Factory after dinner.  It is an old cement factory and many people died there while working.  Abby, Middu, and Linesh came with us.  As we headed into the haunted house they gave us this small red light and said to not use our phones at all and keep them in our pockets.  We started going and all of a sudden our light stopped working and it was pitch black.  We pulled out our phones to try and get the light working again but it was broken.

We found another group behind us and tagged along with them since it was so dark we could barely see anything.  I didn't think the haunted house was that scary.  It was scary at some points but not enough for me to scream haha.

There was one point where you turn the corner and this loud noise goes off and then they spray mist.  It hit me right in the face and I was dripping wet.  It didn't scare me but it was kinda gross haha.  It was also really foggy in there so it made it hard to breathe.

There were tons and tons of stairs that we had to climb.  When we came to the very top we had to go down a slide individually.  It was kind of scary to end up at the bottom by yourself but Nik was always there next to me. :)

At the very end there was this weird blow up thing that sucked you into it.  It was so weird but so cool at the same time.  When we came out we were in a big tunnel and these lights started flashing really fast.  Plus they played train track noises really loud.  I think that was one of the scariest parts of the haunted house haha.

I would definitely say this has been one of my very favorite Halloweens.  Even though the haunted house wasn't very scary I loved being inside with Nik.  He led our group and helped me to not be scared at all.  Can't wait for all of our future Halloweens together!

train tracks

Tuesday morning while in class I just had this feeling that Nik was going to come up to Rexburg for the week and surprise me.  I got home from class and called Jenna to see if she had already eaten lunch.  She seemed to be acting a little funny but I just ignored it.  A few minutes later Jenna came walking into my apartment and Nik was behind her.

Nik said I had the biggest smile on my face as he walked in and gave me a hug.  I was in shock even though I had this feeling all along that Nik would be coming up that day.  He even made it just in time for us to go to devotional.  How thoughtful!

After devotional we worked on some homework.  We didn't leave campus until later so we decided to go out to dinner since it was pretty late.  We went to Original Thai and it was delicious.  I definitely felt like I was in Thailand with Nik and we were traveling the world.  I can't wait for that day.

After dinner we went to Broulim's and bought a dozen donuts.  We enjoyed them with Jenna's roommates and then gave the rest to my roommates.  Since it was Tuesday night I had to do my clean check and Nik was kind enough to help me.  The kitchen was spotless after we were done cleaning.  Wish it was like that every day haha.  Just waiting for the day when Nik and I have our own apartment.

Wednesday after class Nik and I headed to Idaho Falls.  I just wanted to get out of Rexburg for a little while.  It's hard for me to stay in such a small town for a while.  I feel claustrophobic and stuck in this tiny college town haha.  We went to Sam's Club and just had a blast walking around.  We even found a few perfect couches for our apartment.  If only we had an apartment now!  We also went to the mall since I had a gift card to Bohme.  I didn't see anything I liked but Nik saw a shirt he liked so I tried it on and loved it.  He has some good style. :)

Around 11:30 Nik had this crazy idea to go get hot chocolate.  I thought we would just go to a gas station or the cocoa lodge.  Instead, he drove to Paradise Donuts and I told him it was probably closed.  We went in and got fresh donuts that had just come out of the oven and delicious hot chocolate.  I had peppermint and Nik got mexican.  Man it was the most delicious thing ever.  So glad Nik has these crazy ideas.

Thursday afternoon Nik and I went onto campus and played ping pong, foosball, and air hockey.  We had the best time and were laughing the whole time.  I love how we can always laugh and have a good time even if we are terrible at something.  We definitely need to get a ping pong table in our house one day.

While we were playing ping pong Nik went into the bathroom so I waited for him in the hallway.  A few minutes had gone by and I was tired of standing so I went and sat down.  The minutes kept going by and he just wasn't coming out of the bathroom.  I was thinking he passed out or something and was thinking about sending someone in to find him.  He came out a while later and said he had a bloody nose and a piece of his watch broke off so he was looking for it.  Haha oh Nik. :)

We went to the stadium and worked out Thursday night.  We ran up the stadium stairs a few times and then jogged around the track.  It was hard for me to breathe with the crisp fall air.  Luckily Nik was there for me.  After working out we went and stuffed ourselves with some delicious pizza pie.  There's nothing like their oreo pizza.

When we heard the honking haha.

Friday afternoon was pretty warm out so we decided to go to the train tracks and take some pictures.  I haven't used my camera in a while and I sure did miss it.  It was kind of scary getting up into the train haha.  While we were taking pictures on the tracks the horn started honking so we got off the track.  It honked the whole way through Rexburg and ended up going on a different track.  We got back on and took a few more pictures when we saw a light and more honking.  This time we knew we were on the track that the train was coming.

We had a blast taking photos and then going up to the temple and taking some photos there.  I am so glad that Nik surprised me and came up to Rexburg for the week.  He can always make me laugh and smile even if I am in a terrible mood.  I love you so much Nik.

career fair

Nik surprised me and came up to Rexburg last Tuesday.  He made it just in time for devotional so we went together.  It was a really good devotional and we ate hi-chew the whole time which just made it that much better haha.  Afterwards we headed to Nielsen's for lunch.  We sure were starving and it was delicious.

Earlier in the day I went to the resume cafe to have my resume reviewed.  While I was working on my homework Nik was kind enough to redo my resume so that I would be ready for the career fair.  I must say that he made it look super good!

We had some lovely dinners outside.  Nik made Jenna and I some chicken masala which was so delicious.  I also made us some homemade mac and cheese another night.  Man we are just becoming professional chefs over here.

On Wednesday there was this outdoor living thing on campus.  There was just a bunch of activities to do outside on campus.  Jenna had to go to it for one of her classes so Nik and I came with for a little bit.  We had fresh apple juice, went on rope swings, zip lines, hammocks, and so much more!  It was a lot of fun other than the hammock flipping over and Nik falling off of it.

The career fair was on Thursday so Nik came with me and helped me talk to companies about internships and just become more comfortable.  I definitely couldn't have done it without him.  He helped me break out of my comfort zone and start to prepare for my future career.

After printing off some resumes we headed to information meetings for three companies.  We went to USAA, LDS church IT, and Interactive Intelligence.  Going to the information meetings got me excited to do an internship.  I started to feel more qualified too.

Friday morning I ended up getting an interview for web development with the church IT.  I went and the interview was just awful.  The guy asked me a programming question and for some reason I just could not remember how to do it for the life of me.  I talked with the guy and we decided that web development probably wasn't for me.  He then told me to go see if they had any project management interview slots open up.  Luckily one spot had just opened up so I signed up for a project management interview.

Let me just say that the project management interview went so well.  It was a thousand times better than the web development interview.  I felt really confident and qualified for the job.  I'm praying that I will get a call in the next few weeks saying that I got the internship!

Nik and I then relaxed and played ping pong for a while.  It was the most fun I have had in such a long time.  I'm so thankful that Nik came up to help me prepare for the career fair this week.  He is the biggest blessing in my life.  I love how he is always supporting me and helping me become a better person.
