zoo & ice castles

Last weekend Nik and I went to the Hogle Zoo.  It was Nik's first time at the zoo and I hadn't been for a long time.  We had quite an adventure!  The first animal we saw was a big elephant.  We watched it eat and it just made me want to go to Asia and ride on an elephants back haha.  Don't worry, we will some day!

It was so fun seeing all the animals.  I loved seeing the llamas, polar bear, sea lions, tiger, and so many more!  It made me super excited to go to the new aquarium opening up in a few months.  We also had a scary encounter with a gorilla.  He was walking around inside of his cage when he came over close to us and picked up these yellow bins and started banging them together.  We thought it was so cute, then the next second he threw them across his cage and ran as fast as he could at the window right where we were standing.  I'm pretty sure I had a heart attack...he was so huge!

The gorilla that attacked us!

We also got to go to the Midway Ice Castles.  They were pretty legit!  We waited in line for about an hour and a half...by the time we got inside we were already frozen!  It seemed so surreal to be surrounded by all these beautiful ice creations.

There were so many people it was just super chaotic but it was still a blast.  It was so cool to see all the different colors inside of the ice.  When you walked into one of the ice caves it just felt like another world....until water kept dripping on your head and down your back haha.

I am so glad that Nik took me to see the Ice Castles!  Thank you for such a great time.  I think my favorite part was when we got out, Nik bought us some hot chocolate and donuts haha.  It was so good even though we could barely move we were so cold!
