hammocking

Let me just say that this was one of the very best weekends.  Each weekend with Nik just keeps getting better and better.  Friday night was a really bad thunderstorm so we went bowling.  We played three games and were laughing and having fun the whole time.  I ended up winning the first time scoring 129 and I'm pretty sure Nik won the rest haha.

After bowling we worked on homework and then went to Pizza Pie and stuffed ourselves with their delicious oreo pizza.  My other favorite is ranch chicken.  Mmm yummy in our tummy's.  We went to the park after and set up our hammock for the first time!  It was quite a success.  Even though it was freezing outside we stayed for quite a while and had such a great time.

Saturday morning we went to the Idaho Falls Farmer's Market.  Let me just say that it is way better than Rexburg's.  I can't wait to go to the Salt Lake Farmer's Market.  We saw tons and tons of dogs which just made us super happy.  We want a puppy so bad it's making us crazy!

We had some delicious italian ice and just had a fun time looking around at all the different things.  Nik bought me this really sweet handmade purple backpack.  I love it and am so excited to use it when we travel around the world.

We had a great time at the Farmer's Market.  I love spending all day with my best friend!  He is always making me laugh and so very happy.  We always do the craziest things together and are just laughing so hard the entire time.

We went to the Tautphaus Park Zoo after that and it was pretty sweet!  Our favorite animals were the llamas and the goats.  Llamas will always have a special place in our hearts.  Just seeing them makes us so happy haha.

I loved feeding the goats.  Their tongues were really soft and it was the cutest thing when they would jump up on the fence as soon as they heard you getting some food out for them.  It kind of makes me want to get a goat. :)

Nik loves posing with all of the animals.  He is always making me laugh. :)  I love how silly we both are.

We went shopping around the mall and at Sam's Club after the zoo.  Nik sure does spoil me so much.  He is the very best.  After that we had a delicious dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings!  We were stuffed.  When we got back to Rexburg we went hammocking again!

We made a delicious chicken and rice dinner and then took a nap on Sunday.  After our lovely nap we went back to the park for more hammocking.  We love it so much but just wish it was warmer here.

I am so glad that Nik decided to buy a hammock just for fun haha.  We are going to go on a camping trip and sleep in our hammock!  Hopefully it will be a lot warmer when we go camping though.

Look at that cutie being crazy.  I love how silly we are together.  This was one of the best nights because we just talked for hours in our hammock and got to know and love each other so much more.  I love you so much Nik!

birthday weekend

Guess who turned 21 over the weekend!  We celebrated my birthday on Saturday since we wouldn't have very much time together on Sunday.  Nik and I started off by going to Sugar House park with Lucy.  We walked in the stream and enjoyed our walk around the park.  It was funny watching Lucy in the water.  She is always making us laugh.

After the park we drove around Sugar House and got some hawaiian ice from hokulia.  We got a medium to share and it was bigger than our faces!  Our flavors were tigers blood, passion fruit, and pina colada.  The tigers blood was our favorite and the hawaiian ice was so delicious!

We tried to go swimming at Nik's apartment afterwards but the pool was closed.  We tried to go swimming Friday night but it was too cold.  We were quite sad that we couldn't swim all weekend.  We will have to next time though!  Instead we went to Crown Burger and got some sweet potato fries.  They are delicious and really addicting haha.

My beautiful bouquet that Nik got for my birthday.  My favorite flowers!

Later, we were driving and Nik pulled over.  There was an antique shop and a massage place.  He told me that we were going to get a massage from this sketchy looking place and I was scared haha.  Instead we went into the antique shop and it had some pretty sweet things.  Nik bought me a pair of earrings that are golden and pearly.  I love them so much!  It was so much fun walking around the shop talking about how we will decorate our house.

We went to dinner with my whole family at Texas Roadhouse.  We stuffed ourselves with their delicious rolls and cinnamon honey butter.  We enjoyed spending time with my family and laughing.  Nik told the waiter that it was my birthday so for their birthday traditions they make you sit on a saddle while they sing to you.  I wouldn't get on but I did it just for Nik.

After dinner we opened lots and lots of presents!  My family and Nik sure did spoil me this year.  I got lots of clothes, jewelry, RAM for my laptop, lotion, yonana, Nikon D5200 dslr, and many other things.

When I opened the camera I didn't even notice that it was a different one than the one we decided on.  I then noticed that the screen on the back flipped open and I asked Nik if he got a different camera instead.  He said yes and I looked at the box and read D200 and thought "hmm, I've never heard of this number."  On my birthday, when we were driving around to take pictures he pointed out that it was a D5200 and I freaked out haha.  We both thought it was funny how I didn't even notice I had a D5200 camera until the next day!  We had a blast taking pictures together and trying out the new camera!

This was seriously one of the very best birthdays.  Thanks to my wonderful family and Nik. :)  I am so blessed to have Nik by my side making me laugh, smile, and be happy.  He stole my heart and changed my world forever.

housewarming

Nik's family finally moved into their house!!  It's so exciting to finally have their beautiful house done.  May 31st they had a housewarming party to celebrate.  We ate lots of Thai and Tamil food.  Plus tons and tons of mint brownies haha.  We all got dressed up in traditional Tamil clothing straight from Sri Lanka.

They added some beautiful flowers to the front after the picture was taken. :)
We started off the party by everyone going outside.  Nik's family then came up to the door and cut the ribbon that was across the door.  Middu shot off a confetti thing into the house and then everyone came inside.  Nik's whole family took turns lighting a little candle lamp and then they dedicated the house.

Nik had one of his cousins send me a beautiful salwar from Sri Lanka.  I love the purple and the bright turquoise.  I am so happy that it actually fits too!  I just love all the bright, beautiful, and unique traditional clothing.  I can't wait to actually go to Sri Lanka!

After dedicating the house we ate tons and tons of delicious food.  We had a great time talking to everyone that came to celebrate with us.  We also took tons and tons of pictures!

I love this wonderful family.  Don't they look so nice in their traditional Tamil clothing?  I love how all the boys are matching. :)

I am so excited to go to Sri Lanka one day in the near future.  I am so blessed that I met this wonderful family and that they accept me into their family and culture.  Congratulations on the house!

memorial day

Nik came up to Rexburg for Memorial Day weekend!!  It made me so happy that he took the time to come up.  We started off the weekend by going to the Rexburg farmer's market.  They had a bunch of weird things but we had a good time.  Nik bought me some purple beaded native american feather earrings.  They are super sweet and cute.

Saturday morning we worked on some homework and then headed to the Sandbar.  It was nice and sunny outside but the water was no where warm enough to get in.  We stuck our toes in and they about froze off.  There were a few people swimming and we don't even know how they did it.  Nik tried to throw me in and lets just say I would have been pretty upset haha.

We ate tons of beef jerkey, pringles, and gatorade.  We just spent the whole afternoon laughing and having a great time.  It felt so good to soak up some sun with my bestest friend.  We can't wait until it gets warm enough to actually swim in the river!

After the sandbar we worked on more homework.  I helped Nik finish some of his biology homework so that was quite exciting.  We barely finished one of his assignments that was due at midnight but we did it!  We also enjoyed a nice dinner at Nielsens.  Our concrete shake sure was delicious along with the endless fries!

We had a few different barbecues for Memorial weekend.  It was our first time trying to barbecue and we faced some struggles haha.  On Sunday we grilled some steaks and shish-kabobs.  The steaks literally took forever to cook but they didn't turn out too bad.  We also grilled some hot dogs at the park on Memorial day with one of Nik's mission buddies and his wife.

I ended up getting super sick the whole weekend.  We are pretty sure I had the influenza.  I was always freezing cold and then a minute later I would get a super bad fever.  Nik wanted to take me to the hospital my fever was so high.  I am just so glad that Nik was here to take care of me.  He always made sure I was taking some medicine on time and that I was feeling okay.  I don't know what I would have done without him!

sand dunes

On May 4th Nik and I went to dinner with one of his mission buddies in Sugar City.  His family lives there so they invited us over for dinner since Nik stayed with them a few nights.  The food was delicious and we had a great time talking to him and his family.  We were stuffed with delicious food.

After dinner, Nik and I went to Porter Park and sat in the sun for a while.  It felt so good to finally see the sunlight and feel it on our skin.  There was a really cute Australian Shepherd puppy that we played with while we were at the park.  It sure did make us puppy hungry haha.  We watched a lot of dogs playing together and it made us miss our Lucy.

We decided to go out to the sand dunes after the park.  We watched the sunset and jumped off the sand dunes.  It was still pretty cold but we had a great time laughing and getting covered in sand.  The sunset was really pretty and I just loved spending time with Nik.

Monday night, Nik and I went to Green Canyon Hot Springs.  It isn't too far away and it was pretty nice.  They have a big pool inside that is warm and then when you go outside they have a shallow pool that is real hot.  It was so nice to just relax and spend time together.  It was definitely a nice weekend.  I am so glad that Nik was able to surprise me and come to Rexburg to spend a couple days with me!
