beaver dick park

My last weekend in Rexburg I woke up to a text from Nik saying to call him.  I wanted to go back to sleep but I decided I better call him.  He asked what I was going to eat for breakfast and I just thought I don't know I just want to go back to sleep, why did he want me to call him?  The next thing I know Nik is standing in my apartment.  Man he surprised me so much this semester!

We started off the weekend by eating breakfast and getting Jamba Juice.  Then we headed over to the library so that I could work on some finals.  After taking a really long test we headed to beaver dick!  The water was pretty cold but Nik jumped right in with all the little fish.  He is a lot braver than me!

I finally got in the river with him and we swam over to an island.  There were tons of rocks and Nik was too kind to carry me so I didn't have to fully swim and walk in the rocky water.  Such a sweetheart.  We also spent hours and hours trying to catch the millions of tiny fish.  We were unsuccessful but we never gave up!  We will catch one one day.

After swimming we headed home and went to dinner at The Hickory.  The food was good and our strawberry lemonade was so delicious!  I'm still craving the strawberry lemonade it was so good.  The only bad thing was our waitress was really rude and annoying.

We spent the rest of the night hammocking until Nik was fast asleep and the sprinklers turned on.  Not so fun haha.  We went to church together the next morning.  I love sitting next to Nik while at church.  It is the best feeling in the world.  So blessed to have him in my life!

After church Nik helped me with a ton of my final projects.  I couldn't have done it without him.  Thank you for always helping me and making me laugh Nik.  I love you beyond words.  Thank you for surprising me so many times this semester.  You really are the best.

ferguson canyon

Over the weekend my whole family and Nik went on a hike with Lucy.  We decided to go up Ferguson Canyon because it is pretty shady and next to a stream.  It was a nice hike even though we went when it was super hot outside.

I don't know why but I just love going on hikes with Lucy.  I think it's because it wears her out and then she isn't going crazy at home haha.  I really liked this hike because it had a nice view of the valley.  Nik and I will have to come back sometime to watch the sunset here!

It felt like we weren't in Utah anymore because there were so many trees.  It was so beautiful.  It was too late in the season so there was no water left in the creek.  I think it would be a lot of fun to go on this hike when there is water in the creek.

There were lots of people rock climbing when we got farther up the trail.  It was interesting to watch them.  All I can say is that they have a lot of skill!  I thought it looked pretty scary to rock climb...I don't know if I would do it haha.

It was such a beautiful day for a hike.  Nik and I had a lot of fun with my family and Lucy goose.  I have decided that I want to go on a hike at least every other week with Lucy. :)

There were a few little ponds of water leftover from the stream.  When we were going up the mountain Lucy just stepped in it to cool off a little bit.  On our way back down she saw the water again and went running over.  She then lay completely down and was just loving life in the cool water.

Thank you for being my hiking buddies Lucy and Nik.  You both are the best and make me laugh and so happy.  Here is to many more hikes this summer with my hiking buddies!

p.s. I took this sweet puppy on a walk on Sunday and she was so happy.  She couldn't even control her happiness!  Look at that smile full of joy.

4th of july

This was one of the best fourth of July's yet!  Nik and I started off the holiday by getting a big slurpee from 7-11 and a pizza.  The slurpee was so delicious.  I didn't realize how much I missed and loved slurpees!  I think they might just be our new addiction.

It took us a while to find a place to park.  We even tried parking at The Dodo but a worker came out and told us we couldn't park there.  Luckily we found a spot in the neighbor hoods.  We walked over to the park and it was so hot.

We found a spot in the shade to cool off and then we would move to a better spot for the fireworks once it was dark out.  We worked on some homework and tried to relax even though these bugs and mosquitoes were attacking us.  No matter where we moved there was always a ton of bugs trying to eat us.

We went to find a bathroom before we got a good spot for the fireworks.  There was a really long line and none of the bathrooms had any toilet paper so we were waiting forever.  I was still waiting in line when Nik told me to hurry out because the fireworks had already started.

Right outside the bathroom was actually a really good spot so we set up the camera really fast.  There was a little kid behind us and every time a firework went off he would yell "baaahhhha" really loud.  He did it for about 15 minutes straight.  Every time he yelled Nik and I would just start laughing.

The show ended and we walked around the park for a little bit.  We got a funnel cake with powdered sugar, chocolate, coconut, and strawberries.  Man it was so delicious.  Definitely a highlight of the night.

Saturday night Nik and I bought some sparklers.  We had so much fun trying to spell words together.  It was quite a struggle for us sometimes though haha.  Once we kind of figured it out we got some really cool pictures.

We have done long exposure pictures before with flashlights but it is so much cooler to do it with sparklers.  The pictures just look so nice!  We had so much fun doing them too.  We found it was best to set the shutter speed to about 13 and the aperture to about 11.

Thank you for the best 4th of July Nik!  We are both so grateful to be living in America and have our freedom.  Thank you to everyone that helps serve our country!
