train tracks

Tuesday morning while in class I just had this feeling that Nik was going to come up to Rexburg for the week and surprise me.  I got home from class and called Jenna to see if she had already eaten lunch.  She seemed to be acting a little funny but I just ignored it.  A few minutes later Jenna came walking into my apartment and Nik was behind her.

Nik said I had the biggest smile on my face as he walked in and gave me a hug.  I was in shock even though I had this feeling all along that Nik would be coming up that day.  He even made it just in time for us to go to devotional.  How thoughtful!

After devotional we worked on some homework.  We didn't leave campus until later so we decided to go out to dinner since it was pretty late.  We went to Original Thai and it was delicious.  I definitely felt like I was in Thailand with Nik and we were traveling the world.  I can't wait for that day.

After dinner we went to Broulim's and bought a dozen donuts.  We enjoyed them with Jenna's roommates and then gave the rest to my roommates.  Since it was Tuesday night I had to do my clean check and Nik was kind enough to help me.  The kitchen was spotless after we were done cleaning.  Wish it was like that every day haha.  Just waiting for the day when Nik and I have our own apartment.

Wednesday after class Nik and I headed to Idaho Falls.  I just wanted to get out of Rexburg for a little while.  It's hard for me to stay in such a small town for a while.  I feel claustrophobic and stuck in this tiny college town haha.  We went to Sam's Club and just had a blast walking around.  We even found a few perfect couches for our apartment.  If only we had an apartment now!  We also went to the mall since I had a gift card to Bohme.  I didn't see anything I liked but Nik saw a shirt he liked so I tried it on and loved it.  He has some good style. :)

Around 11:30 Nik had this crazy idea to go get hot chocolate.  I thought we would just go to a gas station or the cocoa lodge.  Instead, he drove to Paradise Donuts and I told him it was probably closed.  We went in and got fresh donuts that had just come out of the oven and delicious hot chocolate.  I had peppermint and Nik got mexican.  Man it was the most delicious thing ever.  So glad Nik has these crazy ideas.

Thursday afternoon Nik and I went onto campus and played ping pong, foosball, and air hockey.  We had the best time and were laughing the whole time.  I love how we can always laugh and have a good time even if we are terrible at something.  We definitely need to get a ping pong table in our house one day.

While we were playing ping pong Nik went into the bathroom so I waited for him in the hallway.  A few minutes had gone by and I was tired of standing so I went and sat down.  The minutes kept going by and he just wasn't coming out of the bathroom.  I was thinking he passed out or something and was thinking about sending someone in to find him.  He came out a while later and said he had a bloody nose and a piece of his watch broke off so he was looking for it.  Haha oh Nik. :)

We went to the stadium and worked out Thursday night.  We ran up the stadium stairs a few times and then jogged around the track.  It was hard for me to breathe with the crisp fall air.  Luckily Nik was there for me.  After working out we went and stuffed ourselves with some delicious pizza pie.  There's nothing like their oreo pizza.

When we heard the honking haha.

Friday afternoon was pretty warm out so we decided to go to the train tracks and take some pictures.  I haven't used my camera in a while and I sure did miss it.  It was kind of scary getting up into the train haha.  While we were taking pictures on the tracks the horn started honking so we got off the track.  It honked the whole way through Rexburg and ended up going on a different track.  We got back on and took a few more pictures when we saw a light and more honking.  This time we knew we were on the track that the train was coming.

We had a blast taking photos and then going up to the temple and taking some photos there.  I am so glad that Nik surprised me and came up to Rexburg for the week.  He can always make me laugh and smile even if I am in a terrible mood.  I love you so much Nik.

career fair

Nik surprised me and came up to Rexburg last Tuesday.  He made it just in time for devotional so we went together.  It was a really good devotional and we ate hi-chew the whole time which just made it that much better haha.  Afterwards we headed to Nielsen's for lunch.  We sure were starving and it was delicious.

Earlier in the day I went to the resume cafe to have my resume reviewed.  While I was working on my homework Nik was kind enough to redo my resume so that I would be ready for the career fair.  I must say that he made it look super good!

We had some lovely dinners outside.  Nik made Jenna and I some chicken masala which was so delicious.  I also made us some homemade mac and cheese another night.  Man we are just becoming professional chefs over here.

On Wednesday there was this outdoor living thing on campus.  There was just a bunch of activities to do outside on campus.  Jenna had to go to it for one of her classes so Nik and I came with for a little bit.  We had fresh apple juice, went on rope swings, zip lines, hammocks, and so much more!  It was a lot of fun other than the hammock flipping over and Nik falling off of it.

The career fair was on Thursday so Nik came with me and helped me talk to companies about internships and just become more comfortable.  I definitely couldn't have done it without him.  He helped me break out of my comfort zone and start to prepare for my future career.

After printing off some resumes we headed to information meetings for three companies.  We went to USAA, LDS church IT, and Interactive Intelligence.  Going to the information meetings got me excited to do an internship.  I started to feel more qualified too.

Friday morning I ended up getting an interview for web development with the church IT.  I went and the interview was just awful.  The guy asked me a programming question and for some reason I just could not remember how to do it for the life of me.  I talked with the guy and we decided that web development probably wasn't for me.  He then told me to go see if they had any project management interview slots open up.  Luckily one spot had just opened up so I signed up for a project management interview.

Let me just say that the project management interview went so well.  It was a thousand times better than the web development interview.  I felt really confident and qualified for the job.  I'm praying that I will get a call in the next few weeks saying that I got the internship!

Nik and I then relaxed and played ping pong for a while.  It was the most fun I have had in such a long time.  I'm so thankful that Nik came up to help me prepare for the career fair this week.  He is the biggest blessing in my life.  I love how he is always supporting me and helping me become a better person.

general conference

Last weekend was so great because it was general conference and it was our first time watching it together!  We decided to go downtown Sunday morning and try to get in to the conference center.  Nik picked me up around 8 and we headed over to hop on the trax.  We have been wanting to take the trax somewhere so we thought this would be a great opportunity.

As we were waiting for the trax there was this sketchy looking guy walking around all the cars.  He was looking in all the windows seeing if there was anything he could steal.  We were a little skeptical leaving Nik's car there haha.

We made it downtown and started asking people if they had any extra tickets.  Some people right behind us got some so we just kept walking around asking people hoping to get some.  After unsuccessfully getting no tickets we got in the standby line and watched conference in the tabernacle.

Even though we couldn't watch conference in the conference center it was still such a great experience.  I loved listening to conference with Nik and feeling the spirit.  We both received answers to prayers and lots of guidance and counsel.

We took the trax back home and then watched the afternoon session at my house.  It was one of my favorite conference weekends because I got to spend it with Nik!  We can't wait for next general conference in April and maybe we will get tickets!

One of our goals from conference is that we are going to listen to a talk or two every week and start to apply it into our lives.  I know that both Nik and my testimony were strengthened so much while watching conference.  We can't wait to read all the talks again!

By the way, this was the first conference that speakers could speak in their native language and I have to say that was pretty dang sweet.

devotional surprise

Tuesday afternoon about two weeks ago, when I got out of devotional I called Nik to tell him I was going into the library to study.  He kept asking if I was going home to eat or get something.  He then told me to come see him.  He surprised me in Rexburg again!

We checked on the car to see if there were any parking tickets on it.  Luckily there weren't any so we decided to go to Kiwi Loco.  Mmm it was so yummy.  I don't really like coconut things but their coconut frozen yogurt was delicious.

Nik and I then went over to the park and worked on some homework.  Nik helped me read my Hinduism homework.  It was great to have him here to help explain all the confusing terms.  Since Nik didn't feel good earlier he hadn't eaten anything all day and was starving.  We went to Skeeters and got some hot dogs and fries.  We thought that the hot dogs had chili on them but it turned out they had gross green chili's on them.

Wednesday morning I went to my classes.  Nik met me for my third class which was personal health and wellness.  He thought it was my religion class and once he found out it wasn't he left to go hang out with Jenna haha.  After that Nik met me and we walked to my world religion class together.  I wanted him to come to the class because we were starting our Hinduism unit.

In class someone asked a question about the red dots Hindu's wear on their forehead.  My teacher didn't really know the specific reason so I asked Nik if he did and told him to comment.  Nik raised his hand and told the class that he converted from Hinduism and immediately everyone turned and looked at him.  My teacher just seemed so amazed and asked Nik a lot of questions.  I was pretty proud of Nik!

The rest of the week we spent a lot of time together having the best of times.  We went swimming at beaver dick with Jenna, swimming at Heise hot springs, bowling after class, hammocking, the dog shelter, and so many more other fun things!  Oh, Nik also changed the battery in our car.  Thank you so much Nik!
